Mr. Oizo - Stade 3

Not surprisingly, Mr. Oizos new EP Stade 3 is quite a ride. I don't mind at all having spent much of my youth listening to Dillinger Escape Plan and anything with Mike Patton. But if you're not into the vibrant tonality of a fax machine having sex with a piano, this probably isn't for you.

Also, it's a free download, which is nice. Grab it over at Mr. Oizo's hompage.

Strip Steve - Stomp

Super rejoice! One of my favourite producers releases new great stuff. Also, I didn't know Strip Steve was prepping a debut album. EFF Yeah!
  // Kasp (Orphans)

Betamax - Disco Dracula

Here's an interesting story:

You might remember this little tune back in 2010 that went " Ooooooooooooooooo.... Barbara Streisand" by A-Trak and Armand van Helden. It got heavy radio rotation and dancefloor coverage all over europe (sweden included) and I'm guessing overseas and eastways too. In other words, quite the hit.

Anyway, dutch journalist Edwin van Dalen tweeted something along the lines of "well that's a sample of a cover of a famous tune. Anyone can make a hit by putting some beats over an already famous song" in typical tweet pundit fashion. That was that, and the internet moved on.

Until an EMI product manager, also the label behind the track, replied "ok, so you'll have that hit ready by the end of the year then?". So Edwin seemingly thought, "hey why not?" and made it his little petproject over at the dutch edition of Metro, where he worked. He teamed up with fellow dutchman Riptide for the production, made a weekly blogg about the process and let the Metro-readers vote on which song they should ultimately use. The polls decided on "Soul Dracula" by Hot Blood.

Obviously they didn't meet their "by the end of the year"-deadline. But the song is finished anyway, and has been out on BMKLTSCH for a week or so. And hey, not bad. Not bad at all.

Coyu - The Nu-Nu Sound EP

Some labels just keep on releasing gem after gem. Like Suara. Last week we had a post about their new Mihalis Safras release, and this week it's Coyu.

The story goes that last year, to celebrate 10.000 followers on Soundcloud, Coyu released a free track, "The Nu-Nu Sound". The EP includes a revamped 2012 version, plus great remixes from Oxia, Santos and Danny Serrano. Don't sleep on this one.

Sticky Stockholm - Free Tracks Volume 3

Yes ya'll! I've been working on this one for a while, mostly trying to figure out the track-order, which way to use the samples and how to package it - well worth the effort though, as I'm really happy with the end result.

Use them as tools or enjoy them as songs!Hopefully you'll like the variety in production and the way the tracks are laid out!

Released today: Orphans STHLM & Sticky Stockholm - Guns & Ammo EP

And so it's here - The Orphans & Sticky second co-op EP has officially hit the stores! Two fat tracks to make you bounce!

Buy it on iTunes!

Selected DJ-feeback and support:

Geisha Twins:
"Diggin Ammo alot out of the release, nice phat organic percussion."

Boom Brothers:
"Thx for some excellent ammunition, guys! Ready to fire it on the next event in berlin!"

Tee Dubya:
"Really liking Ammo, lots of variation and a decent diversity of sounds. will support!"

Jill Strange:
"OH SNAPPPPPPPP! this is where those kinds of fx actually work!"

"Wicked release!"

Ying and Yang, Guns and Ammo, Donuts and Cucumber. Going all out and staying mellow at the same time. Time and space, rat poison and sugar. This is music telling a story - one of contrast and similarity. It's also the vain effort to design a weapon with music.

It should make you feel like a loaded gun packed with joy.

Orphans STHLM and Sticky Stockholm produce their second co-op EP together, making heavy use of equipement like legal streaming services of the latest sports, chilled Pale Ales in bottles, the old old iPad, classy keys and a couple of laptops. Replaying each others carefully played synths, revisiting their beloved Korgs, the result is without any surprise: excellent.

Smörgåsbord (Swedish: [ˈsmœrɡɔsˌbuːɖ]) is a type of Scandinavian meal/concept served buffet-style with multiple dishes of various foods on a table. (In Norway it is called koldtbord, in Denmark it is called det kolde bord, in Finland seisova pöytä, in Iceland it is called hlaðborð and in Estonia rootsi laud - but that's just weird/wrong - let's stick to Smorgasbord).

Smörgåsbord became internationally known as "Smorgasbord" at the 1939 New York World's Fair when it was offered at the Swedish Pavilion's "Three Crowns Restaurant." It is typically a celebratory meal and guests can help themselves from a range of dishes laid out for their choice.

In a restaurant, the term refers to a buffet-style table laid out with many small dishes from which, for a fixed amount of money, one is allowed to choose as many as one wishes.
