The Presets - Youth In Trouble

I saw The Presets live five years ago in what was a great concert at a perfect venue. Sure, Allhuset at The Stockholm University isn't big. But the atmosphere was dense and the place was packed. Two guys, some keyboards and synthesizers and a drumkit: what a fierce set. Their own material sounded great and they did a mean cover of "Da Funk". Since them I've loved all of their releases, especially 2008:s "Apocalypso". Rave, body music, techno and some pop rolled into one. Yummy.

So let's fast forward to some weeks ago when I found myself wondering when they dropped of my radar. Yeah, I know, kind of stupid of me considering they have a homepage, Twitter et al. It was just one of those occasions when a track pops up while you're listening to music in shuffle mode and you go "oh yeah, those guys. I wonder if they have released something new that I've missed".

And only them found out that, yep, a new album IS one the way. It's called "Pacifica" and here's the video of the first single "Youth In Trouble". Nice.

Riva Starr - Freedom EP

Some classic Riva-grooves on this one - Freedom being the obvious smasher, Be Your Best with the dopest vocal work.

Carlo Lio - Keep Groving

If you don't like this, you don't like house music.

JMX - Let Go EP

This one has made the bloggrounds recently, and for good reason. Nice and deep with fantastic vocals on top. And a Jordan Peak remix is never a bad thing.

Poolsight - We EP

I think the original is awesome enough, but all remixes add something fresh to this release. Especially the HI-LO-FI mix, which has an disco/italo vibe going for it.

Hrdvsion / Midnight Operator - Prettier Than That / Dangerous Behaviour

A stellar release with two pretty different tracks. "Prettier Than That" offers cut up jackin' vocals over fast paced beats, while "Dangerous Behaviour" builds more on it's deep atmosphere. Don't miss any of them though.

Guti & Fosky – I Wanna Dancer I Don’t Know

I guess spellbinding basslinse are today's theme. This one just puts you in trance.

// Kasp (Orphans)

Chopstick & Johnjon - Versions EP

Deep and dope, this is music with great vibes and soul (yeah, pun totally intended). I have a hard time deciding wich track I like the most, and that's always a good sing. I'm leaning heavy on Listen, though. That bassline is simply delicious!

12-3 Recordings Spotify list #11

And a happy summer solstice to you! Today swedes eat lot's of pickled herring, dance around a huge phallic symbol and drink snaps. And, as a matter of fact, do this all in honor of the most beloved of creatures in the animal kingdom: frogs.

Kid Culture & Thomas Robson - Welcome To The Funk

The kind of release that brings a smile to your face. And has the best use of a De La Soul-sample (edit: George Clinton-sample to be precise), to boot!

// Kasp (Orphans)

Voltron - Sophmore EP

Summer's finally here (though it will rain again, they say) and so is the newest Discobelle release. Two mellowish techno tracks perfect for that pool party vibe and four remixes too spice it up a notch. The Jean Nipon remix is the star of the show on this one.

Bonar Bradberry - On The Bounce

A little late on this one maybe. But meh... Good music is always good music. Speaking of music, talk about striking name for the title track. It sure has some nice bounce to it!

U96 - Das Boot (Orphans STHLM Rebootleg)

As we grow into our late 20's we naturally start to look back at stuff in our past. Movies, video games, music and tv shows that made an impact in our lustrous youth. Some of that teenage nostalgia has not aged well at all, whereas some is still as awesome, if not more awesome. So here's an example of the latter.

We made a bootleg remix of a true 90's classic, "Das Boot" by U96, originally a techno adaption of the title melody of the film "Das Boot" released in 1981.

Check it out.

About:

The first 12-3-debut of 2012 comes from Aaron Lifton, aka Flubba, 19 year old mega-talent from New York.

We're unbelievably proud to have signed these tracks to the label - all of them magnificent, from concept and idea to the end result, they pretty much define what we think of as excellent dance music.

Classy yet raw, groovy yet straight forward, deep yet pounding - might sound cliché like, but young Aaron Lifton really provides exactly what we're looking for in modern house music. A feeling of greatness, the sensation of quality.

And so we proudly welcome Flubba aboard the 12-3 ship!

Gianni Amoroso - What I Feel Without You

Acctually this whole release i frickin' awesome. Unfortunately I couldn't find it as a set on Soundcloud. But the title track is a killer lurking in a deep soundscape and illustrates quite nicely what the EP is about.

Orphans STHLM - Balanga 12 mix

Another trip down memory lane. This one is from the summer of 2009. Sound quality is not the best on this one but decent enough mixtape anyway.

Florence + The Machine - Drumming Song (Sticky Stockholm Remix)

I know there's no secret to you how much i like reworking the voice samples of Florence + The Machine in to silly little bootleg remixes - i've been playing around with the vocal intro to Drumming Song for a while, and finally came up with this bootleg - a rather bouncy techno house-affair.

Grab it below!

Beefing by music: Fakers and H8RS

Anyone interested in dance music is probably aware of the on-going feud between DJ Sneak and Swedish House Maffia (most notably Steve Angello). Well, feud is maybe a little much. Let's say tweet-beef. Anyway, it's nice to see that the war of tweets has gone into round 2, and into something more constructive; war by music!

Earlier this week Angello, AN21 and Max Vangeli released "H8RS"digitally, and yesterday DJ Sneak posted "Fakers" as a free download on his Soundcloud.

Personally I'm not into SHM:s brand of house at all. Don't have anything personal against them or anything. Just don't like the music they make. So If you've been reading this blog regularly you probably guessed that "Fakers" is my favorite of the two beefing tunes.

Have a listen for yourself:

NU - BAY$$ Vol. 1

New release from the Anabatic-camp, bass drenched as we're used to, and we're loving it!

Basically, this is your dose of dancefloor-ready tools, mos def going to try some of these out. Apple Bottoms and Hurt Somebody being my prefered tracks.
