Best of 2011 pt. 4 – Sandy Loops
It's the minus 9th of January 2012 and therefore there art time for summarizing this very year. I giveth thee the Sandy Loops Top Ten Tracks of 2011*.
1. Enzo Siffredi & Jfth Feat. The Allstars - Jungle Dancing
This is the track I've spent most time trying to copy while producing, without being successful at all. I like this track so much, I wanna smear some ketchup on it and have it for dinner every single day. I like this track so much, I wanna marry it and have little Jungle Dancing snippets. I like this track so much, I... Oh, nevermind.
2. Sean Miller & Daniel Dubb - Sinnerman (Original Mix)
I've fallen in love with a lot of tracks this year, but there's only one that I have played in every single dj set I've done. Sinnerman. Brilliant Nina Simone song, brilliant mix from Sean Miller and Daniel Dubb. I will probably keep this in my sets all of 2012 as well - impossible to get tired of. Yeah, I'll marry this song too. Is polygamy legal?
3. Ellen Allien - You (Munk Remix)
A real party-maker for me, always sets the mood right before going out. Plus Ellen Allien is so freaking awesome! Love love love the bassline!
4. Gui Boratto - Blackjack's Primetime
If you'd ask me which producer got the most plays from me in 2011, it would most likely be Gui Boratto. And not just his more recent stuff, I listen to his remixes of Goldfrapp and Massive Attack songs from a couple of years ago pretty much every day. Most days I even listen to them several times. This track is the best Gui Boratto track of 2011 though. Yeah it's great.
5. Solomun - Love Recycled 1
The best lounge-making track of the year. Perfect dj-ing in a bar music, perfect for a quiet evening at home with drinks, perfect music for early subway rides to work. Feel that 70's vibe, with the best sampling of 2011!
6. The Dead Rose Music Company - Get Me Through The Day (TDRMC Stripped Dub)
Somehow this track manages to be both loungy and party-making at the same time. Real groovy, and has well deserved its place on this list.
Get Me Through The Day (TDRMC Stripped Dub) by TheDeadRoseMusicCompany
7. Larry Peters & Von Georgi - Tambolero (Melohmann & Javi Bora remix)
Ethnic!
Actually, a real fun and great track. A little messy, and I mean that in the best possible way.
TAMBOLEEEEEROOOOO!
Larry Peters & Von Georgi Tambolero (Melohmann & Javi Bora rmx) by MyLittleDog-Records
8. Mason feat Roisin Murphy - Boadicea (Oliver $ Remix)
If you ask me, every list of the best tracks of any given year should include a track with Roisin Murphy. How awesome is she?
9. Sticky Stockholm & The Orphans - Battle Moose
If I had just finished the video I was making, I would have posted a Youtube clip here. Kidding!
This mysterious, slightly scary and generally awesome collab between Sticky Stockholm and The Orphans is definitely one of the top tracks this year. Yeah!
Bi-bi-bibi-bi-bi-bibi...
Battle Moose by Sticky Stockholm
10. Mustang - Apocalypso
Yes, I cheated on this one. It was actually released on the very last days of 2010, but I had to put it on the list of 2011, because it has gotten so many plays from me this year. Because I think it's really amazing. And worth cheating on this list for.
Th-th-th-that's all folks!

* 2011 finally saw the return of 1990's fashuns. 2010 were more about the 80's. And 2012, we will surely be influenced by the middle ages. Return of the plague! Now I just realised that they probably didn't speak like that in the 1400's. I must stop writing now. Getting back to my gin and lime. How very medieval of me! What? Nevermind.

Best of 2011 pt. 3 – Andy (Orphans)
First of all. To summarize the whole music year in ten tracks is kind of impossible if you really think about it. Especially 2011. Considering the grand amount of awesome tunes that has passed through your ears in the last 365 days it’s a rather frustrating job since new stuff keeps popping up once you start to sort it out.
So I decided to trust my instinct (or memory if you will) and salute the first songs that sprung to mind.
This is what I came up with:
1: Craig Hamilton – Music Pt. 2 (Dimitri Max Strike Out Mix)
Last week I had a nightmare that me and Kasper were doing a set at a club where we only had one track to choose from. If it would’ve been this one it could still be a fantastic night.
2: Norman Zube & Patrick Mark – Azoo
catesse008 - Norman Zube & Patrick Mark - Azoo (Original Mix) by Catesse Records
My old trumpet teacher used to teach all his students to hate the clarinet. ”It’s not worthy of being called an instrument. It’s all noise” he said. Well, this song prove him wrong big time.
3: J Paul Getto – Happy Thoughts
Perhaps THE disco tune of the year. The intro alone is breathtaking.
4: DJ Sneak – My Love (Ramon Tapia Remix)
The achievement of bringing extra funk to the funk master himself must be praised. In this case at fourth place.
5: LBCK – Instant Party (The Phantom’s Revenge Remix)
LBCK - Instant Party (The Phantom's Revenge Remix) by The Phantom's Revenge
I had high expectations on the Instant Party EP. Six out of seven tracks were dissapointing. Then there was that last one that saved the day. The Phantom to the rescue, as always.
6: Alca Pwnd – Metabolic Boost
B: Metabolic Boost by 12-3 Recordings
It was a 50/50 draw between this one and Centrifugal Hooks. The cowbells proved to be the decider.
7: Homework – Raw Groove
MTP041 Homework - Raw Groove by Made to Play
It’s all there in the title.
8: Strip Steve & Das Glow – Calcium
Calcium by Das Glow
I can’t believe neither Kasper nor Ruben have mentioned this one already. Without doubt one of the heaviest and dirtiest bea(s)ts of the year.
9: Alexandre Louvré – Love Voyage
Alexandre Louvré - Love Voyage (French House) by Alexandre Louvré
This guy’s been on fire the whole year and one of the most frequent artists on my playlists. Just about any Louvré track would make the cut for this list but I finally decided to go with this one. Sums that brilliant bastard up quite nice.
10: Andhim – Holz Ist
Andhim - Holz Ist by andhim
This little nugget has mellow and groovy written all over it. And those perfectly cut voice samples – dynamite.
And yeah. I've listened to these guys as well:
Best non-dance-music-track:

Best of 2011 pt. 2 - Sticky Stockholm
Kasper did his list yesterday, in a very well-written, nicely laid out way. Me, im a simple man, and a huge fan of top ten lists, probably cause of my slight Rain Man-tendencies.
The tracks chosen down below is based on a lot of values, but mostly from a dj-booth perspective, it is dance music after all.
So here goes, my top ten tracks of 2011:
1: Luca Lozano – Thug It Out
Luca Lozano - Thug It Out (Original Mix) by Klasse Recordings
There’s so much to say about this track, but let’s begin at the beginning. I was so happy when this first got released, instant crush. The buildup and atmosphere got me urging to play it out. So I did. And as the dance floor reaction to the track shape merged with a peak dj booth vibe I slowly realized how fantastic this track is.
One of the sexiest basslines this year, a delicious yet comforting snare, a powerfull but not exaggerated kick, yep, close-to-perfection. The track of the year, without any doubt.
2: Body Holly – Prince Club
SNATCH012 01. Body Holly - Prince Club Snatch012 (96Kbps Snippet) OUT Feb. 23rd by Prince Club
Early 2011, Prince Club released this track on a three track EP from Riva Starrs Snatch label. Honestly, it took me a while to fully appreciate it, but it grew on me, I started including it in my sets, and I found myself longing to play it. Dance floor-wise, construction-wise and in pure measured dance-effect, this is one of the absolutely best house tracks of this years, undeniably so.
3: Pulsar – Das Glow & Para One
Das Glow & Para One - Pulsar by Marble Music
My 2011 happy track is Pulsar – the disposition is close to perfect, the stabs must be the happiest in a house track, ever. I remember tweeting after the Orphans launching it in one of their sets this year: “Orphans STHLM just dropped Pulsar, and this club turned in to a little slice of heaven”.
4: Orphans STHLM – Eavil
A: Eavil by 12-3 Recordings
This track pretty much sums up the genious of Kasper and Andy, and explains why they’re one of the most frequently released artists on 12-3 Recordings. Eavil is a playful, muscle-track with a drum pattern to die for. The mysterious vibe, deriving mostly from the amazing vocal work, and the indisputable bounce makes it a top five track.
5: Oliver Dollar – Granulated Soul
PID010 - A - Granulated Soul (CLIP) by Made to Play
For a long time, Doin Ya Thang was my Oliver-track on this list, then he dropped this track. Pumping like hell, outclassing his already amazing shelter bomb from earlier this year, taking a classical house sound and putting it in a modern context. Astonishing.
6: Enkae – State 44
BB: State 44 by 12-3 Recordings
Sometimes (allways?), music is all about feeling. When signing this track for a three story EP from UK deep house mastermind Enkae, I was instantly hit by the feel in this production. It took me on a voyage right away, and has been doing the same thing for the club each time I’ve dropped it.
7: High Powered Boys – Work
HIGH POWERED BOYS — Work by soundpellegrino
This is my sing-along-track of 2011. I suppose I look like a moron playing it out, bouncing, goin “oh-eh-eh, eh-no-huh! Huh-eh-ho-hu! Mous-mouse-mouse!” (No idea what the vocal sample is saying), but it makes me real happy! Absurdly good in every way!
8: Homework – Whipped Cream
Whipped Cream by Homework
This is not the track I’ve played the most in my sets, from the already classic Hudson Square EP, but it’s the most delicious out of the four almost perfect productions. So tastefully laid out, with one of this decades best builds, it’s without any doubt a top ten track.
9: Sandy Loops – Wild Horses
Sandy Loops - Wild Horses (That Ronja Track) by Sandy Loops
Every list of this type must contain a proper banger. My wife made the smasher of 2011. And she sampled Ronja (a super famous Swedish childrens movie). It’s a fun track, sure, but it’s also a real effective club track, for when the crowd gets in that tropical mood.
10: Jesse rose – (Where Were You) Last Night (Catz N Dogz & Martin Dawson Remix)
MTP037 Jesse Rose - (Where Were You) Last Night (Catz 'n' Dogz & Martin Dawson remix) by Made to Play
Danciest techno track this year. No doubt. This gem has that terrific Catz N Dogz touch to it, it surprises, and it’s super well produced. I use it all the time, and I’m sure it will follow me in to 2012 as well.
Best non-dance-music-track: Bon Iver – Holocene
If someone gave me a dollar for each time I listened to this jewel, I’d be a billionaire by now. Best track from this years best record!

Best of 2011 pt. 1 - Kasper Orphans STHLM
And that's that. So long 2011, hello 2012. Some things were great this year. Other, not so much. Anyway, we've decided to post our individual best of 2011-lists (to get the most personal flair out of them, and to dodge avoid unnecessary arguments). So I gues I'll start things up.
Best voice sample:
Homework - "I'm into this"
I'm Into This by Homework
"Lot of people, after work you got to go home you take a bath. Lot of people go home; you fuck your wife. Lot of people go home; you cut your grass. I go home and I fuck that MPC all night long. You understand?" Boom!
Best release with awful coverart:
SunsetVzla - Musique EP
The reason I would never design an album cover, is that it would end up looking something like this. Just look at it. That's some shoddy MS Paint work, right there. What's up with the squiggly line in the orange patch spilling over into the heart? What is that black splodge on in the upper right corner of the heart? Who choose that god awful font for the title? All excellent questions that will baffle me for years to come. But, in all fairness, the music is a nice collection of disco house stompers. For example:
Im in Love - Original Mix by SunsetVzla
Best video:
Tensnake - "Something About You"
Awww... They're kids having a rave party. That is just adorable.
Most awesome label:
Marble
Labels like Sound Pellegrino, BNR, Great Stuff and Turbo have continued to release quality music and being generally awesome. Others labels like Russian Highway Records were totally new discoveries for me a came as a pleasant surprise when I stumbled over it. But then there was that one label, that rose from the ashes from beloved Institubes and spread its wings like a phoenix and rose to the sky.
But really, no need to get pretentious here. Just take a quick glance at the quality and volume of Marble's output of 2011 just sets it in stone; THE label 0f 2011. And speaking of Marble...
Best track:
Das Glow & Para One - "Pulsar"
Das Glow & Para One - Pulsar by Marble Music
JesusHChrist this is good. And 2:31 it goes from being insanely good to being this years best track.
Best album:
Surkin - USA
Surkin - USA (Album Teaser) by Marble Music
Yeah, so the whole "songs played on the radio"-schtick already felt a little bit tired when the QOTSA did it on Songs for the Deaf almost 10 years ago. But like Songs for the Deaf, Surkin's USA makes up for a cheesy concept with some gnarly tracks. Going from Italo Disco in "Love Shot", game music house in "I.N.Y.N" to dance floor madness in "Quattro" and "Ultra Light" and picking up some past Surkin favorites along the way, this is a fantastic LP debut.
Best EP:
Floorplan - Sanctified EP
Three fantastic and very different tracks from maestro Robert Hood that range from hard pumping house to gospel funk.
Best remix:
The Knight Cats - "Stap (Rampage & Nader Remix)"
The Knight Cats - Stap (Rampage & Nader Remix) by The Knight Cats
The dancefloor friendliness of this one just blows my mind.
Best old track that I didn't discover until 2011:
Fake Blood - "Fix your accent"
I really have no excuse for not noticing this track, until late this spring. Considering I view myself as an disco house afficinado, and bought this ep... well, back when it was released in 2009 it's a disgrace.
Best bootleg:
Sandy Loops - "Wild Horses (That Ronja Track)"
Sandy Loops - Wild Horses (That Ronja Track) by Sandy Loops
This of course is a great and fun track on its own merit, but it would have probably cost someone a shitload of money if it was ever officially released (considering that the filmatizations of Astrid Lindgrens books are kind of a big deal in Sweden).
Best track I wanted to play in every set, but forgot every damned time:
Ruede Hagelstein - "Give a little slap to your soul"
A Ruede Hagelstein Give A Little Slap To Your Soul by Upon You Records
Smoooooooth!
Best release with no relation to dance music what-so-ever:
Mastodon - The Hunter
A new Mastodon album is like christmas. Shorter and less pretentios tracks this time around (although song titles like "Octopus has no friends" might lead you to think otherwise), but great metal, anyway.
// Kasp (Orphans)
Best voice sample:
Homework - "I'm into this"
I'm Into This by Homework

J.Op:

About:
House Of Royalty & Chris Mojek, two happy lads from the windy city of Chicago, makes their debut on 12-3 with a most delicious split EP. Two tracks each: classic house music, a healthy dose of filters and a good portion of playfulness.
These are tracks for the happy days, your summer time outdoor barbecue or late night packed club in the winter. Yummy!
Both producers with the roots in rap music, combined with a undeniable understanding for what makes a great dance track.
We're super happy to release house music of this caliber. Not bound by genre definitions, they're adding video game aesthetics and happy house features, spicing the sound with unpredictable influences and rhythm patterns - Royalty and Mojek are exactly what we think a 12-3-artist should be like.
Oh the joy!
